Structural Typography & Kinematic Identity: Deconstructing the Logo
Vaals, Sunday 11.10.2026.
For a more contemporary visual communication on my website, an intersection of motion design and typography offers profound opportunities for structural storytelling. The identity system developed for the nomenclature “MOHAMED SAID HELMY ALABASSY” eschews traditional static branding in favour of a strictly modular, matrix-based paradigm. Rather than functioning as an isolated symbolic mark, the primary logo operates as a comprehensive geometric grid. This master vector architecture intrinsically contains the geometric framework of every alphabetical character in English, as well as Segment7 styled numerals. Consequently, each letter operates not as an external typographic addition, but as a deliberate subcomponent extracted directly from the primary structural matrix, establishing a symbiotic visual relationship between the holistic emblem and its constituent parts.

Goodbye Weimar.. Hello Berlin! :)
Weimar, Wednesday 24.12.2025. Updated on 10.01.2026 to include photo.
As one wonderful career chapter comes to a close, an exciting new one begins! I am officially wrapping up my time in Weimar and moving on to my next adventure in Berlin. Looking back on my time as a researcher at the Chair of Construction Chemistry and Polymer Materials, F. A. Finger Institute, it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I had in the last 27 months the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the DFG project on the Combination and automation of computer-aided methods for quantitative crack analysis of concrete, but what truly made my time there special was the people.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my colleagues at the Chair, the constant support of Prof. Osburg for my work, and the wonderful, friendly environment we shared every day and over many lunch breaks. I was genuinely touched by the warm farewell message from the Chair, and the feeling is certainly mutual. While I will always cherish the memories, experience and professional growth I gained in Weimar, I am incredibly optimistic and excited to embrace the vibrant energy of Berlin and the new opportunities that await me there. Here’s to great memories and new beginnings!
